4 Tips For Caring For Tape-In Human Hair Extensions

Posted on

There are lots of different types of hair extensions that you can wear. One type of hair extensions you can use are tape-in human hair extensions. With tape extensions, you need to make sure that you take care of your hair and the tape that is holding the extensions in place.

#1 Brush Your Hair

You should brush your hair every day. Brushing your hair every day will ensure that your hair does not get tangled. Keeping your hair untangled will also help stop your hair extensions from getting untangled as well. Make sure that you brush your hair when it is dry. You don't want to brush your hair when it is wet. If you brush your hair when it is wet, it is really easy to pull the tape out that is holding your extensions in place.

As you brush, be sure to hold onto the roots. This will help ensure that the tape bond with your hair extensions stays in place. A wide tooth comb works well for getting rid of tangles, and a hair extension brush is best for your daily brushing.

#2 Always Sleep with Dry Hair

Do not go to sleep with wet hair. When your hair is wet, and you go to sleep, the chances of your hair extensions getting pulled out as you move around greatly increases. Make sure that your hair is dry before you go to sleep. It is a good idea to pull your hair back into a low ponytail or even braid it at night to keep your hair and extensions from getting tangled.

#3 Be Careful with Your Shampoo

When you wash your hair, be sure to use shampoo and conditioner that does not have sulfate in them. Stick to shampoo and conditioner products that use 100% natural ingredients. You don't want to add unnecessary products to your hair that can build your hair up.

#4 Use A Mask

When you have hair extensions, you need to pay special attention to your hair. You should use a hair mask at least once a week on your hair extensions. Using a hair mask will help add the right types of oils to your hair extensions and will help keep your hair extensions natural soft even though they are no longer living hair. A hair mask will add a little extra time to your day, so be sure to use it on a day where you can take more time getting ready.
